Singapore Cruises

Welcome to Singapore!

Get ready – whether you're kicking things off, stopping mid-adventure, or wrapping up in style, Singapore turns every moment into something unforgettable! Perched at the heart of Southeast Asia and bursting with tropical energy, this vibrant island city is as bold and bright as the journeys it hosts. A world-class cruise hub and a destination in its own right, Singapore is where futuristic skylines meet lush green escapes, and every corner invites exploration. Arriving early? Calling in for the day? Staying on after you dock? However you land here, Singapore is your gateway to something extraordinary. So – what will you discover first?

HEAR THE ROAR OF THE 'LION CITY'

HEAR THE ROAR OF THE 'LION CITY'

Singapore’s nickname, 'The Lion City', comes from the Sanskrit words “Singa” (lion) and “Pura” (city), inspired by a legendary sighting of a lion on the island. Like the king of the jungle, Singapore stands proud and powerful, it’s bold in ambition, strong in presence, and roaring with energy on the global stage.

Modern Marvels & Timeless Treasures

Sights, shopping and soaring skylines await in Singapore! In this city where modern marvels and timeless treasures coexist in perfect harmony, iconic landmarks and sleek skyscrapers rise alongside heritage districts and cultural gems. Whether you're exploring the cutting-edge energy of Marina Bay, uncovering the stories of the past, or soaking in breathtaking views from above, Singapore offers a rich, layered experience unlike any other!

Marina Bay Sands

Rising above the city like a modern-day icon, Marina Bay Sands is impossible to miss – and even harder to forget. Its three soaring towers, crowned by the famous Sands SkyPark and rooftop infinity pool, are a symbol of Singapore’s bold, futuristic spirit.

Whether you're checking in for a luxurious stay, heading up to the SkyPark for panoramic views, or simply soaking in the atmosphere along the waterfront, Marina Bay Sands delivers an experience as dazzling as its skyline. From world-class dining and designer shopping to rooftop cocktails and buzzing nightlife, everything you need for an unforgettable moment is right here.

Merlion Park

No visit to Singapore is complete without meeting its most iconic resident – The Merlion. Standing proudly at Merlion Park, this 28-foot statue with the head of a lion and the body of a fish is more than just a photo op – it’s the symbol of Singapore’s story. The lion nods to “Singapura,” or “Lion City,” the name given to the island centuries ago, while the fish tail reflects its roots as a humble fishing village.

With Marina Bay as the backdrop, snapping a photo here has become a rite of passage for travellers. So go ahead – strike a pose and make your own memory with Singapore’s legendary guardian.

Singapore Flyer

Ready to see Singapore from a whole new angle? Step into the Singapore Flyer – the city’s answer to the London Eye, but even taller. Soaring 165 metres into the sky, this giant observation wheel offers unbeatable 360-degree views of the city skyline, Marina Bay, and, on a clear day, even glimpses of Malaysia and Indonesia in the distance.

By day, you’ll get a sweeping look at the Lion City’s stunning architecture; by night, the city lights transform the ride into something truly magical. Want to make it extra special? Toast the view with a cocktail, or book a sky-high four-course dinner for a night to remember.

Raffles Hotel & Long Bar

Step into a slice of Singapore’s past at Raffles Hotel – a legendary 5-star icon where colonial elegance meets modern luxury. More than just a place to stay, it’s a living piece of history, offering a glimpse into the glamour of a bygone era.

Inside, don’t miss the famous Long Bar – birthplace of the Singapore Sling cocktail, first mixed here in 1915. With its laid-back, plantation-style charm, the bar channels the vibe of 1920s Malaya. And yes, tossing peanut shells on the floor is not only allowed – it’s tradition, a playful nod to the days when Malayan plantation owners would gather here on weekends!

A City in Nature

Need a break from the buzz of the city? In Singapore, you’re never far from nature. Dubbed the ‘Garden City,’ this lush urban paradise is proof that steel and greenery can thrive side by side. With its bold ‘City in Nature’ vision, Singapore has woven parks, gardens, and green spaces into the very fabric of daily life. So once you’ve had your fill of gleaming towers and bustling streets, slow things down with a stroll through one of the city’s many green oases.

Gardens by the Bay

Step into a world where nature meets imagination at Gardens by the Bay – one of Singapore’s most awe-inspiring and iconic attractions. Spanning over 100 hectares of lush, futuristic landscape, this is no ordinary park – it’s a living, breathing showcase of art, innovation, and botanical wonder.

Wander through the towering Supertree Grove, stroll the scenic OCBC Skyway, or escape the heat inside the Flower Dome, where it’s spring all year round. Venture into the misty Cloud Forest to marvel at the world’s tallest indoor waterfall and exotic plant life from every corner of the globe...

Singapore Botanic Gardens

Be enchanted by the timeless beauty of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a peaceful sanctuary nestled in the heart of the city. With over 160 years of history, this tropical paradise perfectly blends lush natural beauty with tranquil charm. Wander beneath towering palms, enjoy a picnic by serene lakes, or simply take a moment to soak in the calm.

In 2015, the Gardens earned the distinction of becoming Singapore’s first and the world’s only tropical botanic garden to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

National Orchid Garden

Tucked within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the National Orchid Garden is a dazzling celebration of colour, beauty, and botanical craftsmanship. Since opening in 1995, it has grown into the world’s largest collection of orchids, boasting over 60,000 stunning blooms.

Wander through vibrant displays of delicate pastels and vivid, sculptural varieties – some even named after visiting royalty and global icons. Whether you’re an orchid enthusiast or simply seeking a peaceful escape, this fragrant, floral haven invites you to slow down, take a deep breath, and marvel at nature’s living masterpieces.

Communities, Culture & Heritage

Singapore is where Asia’s rich traditions meet modern city life, all within easy reach. Known as ‘Instant Asia,’ this dynamic city offers a vibrant blend of cultures, from the bustling streets of Chinatown to the colourful vibrancy of Little India and beyond. Each neighbourhood tells a unique story, celebrating the heritage of the Chinese, Malay, Indian, and other communities that make Singapore truly special.

Chinatown

Where heritage meets hip, Chinatown is alive with colourful street art, stunning Buddhist temples, and a delicious array of restaurants and hawker centres serving traditional Chinese cuisine. Dating back to the early 19th century, this vibrant enclave was once the heart of Singapore’s Chinese immigrant community.

Today, Chinatown is made up of five distinct precincts. Kreta Ayer is known for its striking pre-war shophouses and some of the best hawker food in the city; Telok Ayer is rich with places of worship; Club Street buzzes with lively bars and a vibrant nightlife; Tanjong Pagar offers a quiet residential vibe; and Bukit Pasoh stands out with its atmospheric art-deco buildings and trendy eateries.

Little India

Experience the vibrant spirit of India in Little India, a lively neighbourhood filled with mouthwatering cuisine, ornate Hindu temples, colourful shophouses, and vibrant murals. This historic area dates back to the early 19th century when Indian immigrants arrived in Singapore seeking new opportunities under British colonial rule.

At its heart is Serangoon Road, the bustling main street lined with local eateries, traditional shops, and landmarks like the lively Tekka Centre market. Don’t miss the iconic Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, one of Singapore’s oldest Hindu temples and a beautiful symbol of the community’s rich heritage.

Kampong Glam

Kampong Glam is Singapore’s Muslim quarter, where timeless heritage meets cosmopolitan bustle. Centered around the lively Arab Street, this neighbourhood was once the seat of Malay royalty. One of its most popular sights is the 200-year-old Sultan Mosque, a key place of worship for the local Muslim community and one of the oldest mosques in Singapore.

Right next to the mosque is the Malay Heritage Centre, housed in a former Malay palace, showcasing stories and exhibits about the rich Malay heritage. Be sure to visit the iconic Haji Lane, dotted with boutiques, vibrant street art, and chic cafés!

Authentic Street Food

Street food is at the heart of Singapore’s vibrant food culture, offering an unbeatable mix of flavours, aromas, and colours that reflect the city’s rich heritage. Central to this experience are Singapore’s famous hawker centres, open-air food courts where vendors serve up authentic, affordable local dishes in a lively communal setting. Recognised by UNESCO for their cultural significance, these hawker centres let you taste the true spirit of Singaporean cuisine while soaking in the buzz of everyday life. And with most dishes under £10, it’s a delicious way to explore the city without stretching your budget!

Maxwell Food Centre

Maxwell Food Centre is one of the best places to experience Singapore’s legendary hawker culture at its most authentic. Located in the heart of Chinatown, this bustling food hub was once a wet market before being transformed into a beloved hawker centre.

Lau Pa Sat & Satay Street

Lau Pa Sat is a feast for the senses and a true icon of Singapore’s street food scene. Housed in a beautifully restored Victorian-style national monument, this historic hawker centre features over 80 food stalls, including six Michelin-mentioned favourites.

Whether you're craving juicy skewers of chicken, beef, or seafood, it’s the perfect spot to soak in the lively atmosphere and indulge in a beloved local tradition.

Right in the heart of Singapore’s Malay community, this buzzing area is packed with stalls serving up an awesome mix of Malay and Indian flavors. The best way to enjoy it is to go on a tasting tour and try everything from frog porridge and volcano chicken to fresh durian.

Plus, if you’re vegetarian or gluten-free, no worries. There are plenty of tasty options for you too. Geylang’s food scene is all about exploring and enjoying great eats any time of the night.

Singapore FAQs

What is the weather usually like in Singapore?

Singapore has a year-round warm and equatorial climate since it’s located near the equator. The average temperature is 30°C throughout the year, with a summer that can peak at 31°C and cool seasons that can drop to 23°C. There are only two primary seasons – wet and dry. The wet season is usually from September to February, whilst the dry season takes place between March and August. Still, there’s no fixed wet or dry season and rainfall can be experienced even during the non-monsoon period.

When is the best time for a Singapore cruise?

Although Singapore enjoys a year-round warm and tropical climate, the most ideal time to take a Singapore cruise is from October to March when the weather is comfortable and not humid, perfect for outdoor activities and sightseeing.

How to get around Singapore?

Singapore is relatively a small island and has an excellent public transport system, so it’s pretty easy and convenient to travel around the island city-state. From the airport, it’s less than half an hour to reach the city centre. Different cultural districts can be visited in a short amount of time. And in just few minutes, one can completely change scenario in Sentosa.

Rail System

One of the fastest ways to navigate the island is via its subway system or the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), which operates with six lines. It also has an extensive public bus network, which covers most of the island. Tip from us: It’s more cost-effective to use Singapore MRT and public buses if you have a stored value card (EZ-Link) or a Singapore Tourist Pass.

The Sentosa Express is a monorail line and is an effective mode of transportation for visiting the offshore island resort Sentosa.

Buses

Singapore has an extensive bus network, which offers affordable rates but it can be quite overwhelming for tourists. There are four main bus services in the city-state, running over 300 scheduled routes and frequencies typically from 10-20 minutes.

Land Taxis and Ride-sharing apps

There are over 15,000 air-conditioned taxis in Singapore that run on a meter, offering a hassle-free transfer and sometimes surprisingly affordable fares. Alternatively, you can book from ride-sharing apps like Grab for convenient point-to-point travel.

River Taxis

River taxis offer a great way to enjoy the sights and sceneries along the banks of Singapore River.

What language is spoken in Singapore?

Singapore is a multilingual country and the most widely used languages are English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil.

Is there a tipping culture in Singapore?

Tipping in Singapore is not customary and most often not expected, but a service charge is commonly added to your bill. However, if you’re feeling a little generous, offering a small gratuity to hotel staff, cab drivers and tour guides will be greatly appreciated. Note that there are some areas that prohibit tipping, including Changi Airport.

What is the mode of payment in Singapore?

The local currency used in Singapore is the Singaporean dollar. Credit cards are widely accepted in restaurants, bars, shops and taxis, with mobile payments available in most locations. You can purchase a Singapore Tourist Pass beforehand if you plan to use public transportation a lot, with unlimited bus and MRT transport, as well as small discounts in select stores.
