Generally, the best time to visit Denmark is in the spring or summer, between May and August, for pleasant weather conditions and longer daylight hours. These two seasons are the prime time for exploring the outdoors and sightseeing, as well as basking on the beaches! Spring is also an ideal time for seeing cherry blossoms in Copenhagen, whilst you can consider winter cruises if you want to experience the Christmas markets and the ‘hygge’ culture!

Whilst the more popular destinations for the Northern Lights are the neighbouring countries like Norway and Sweden, it’s also possible to view this spectacular phenomenon in Denmark’s northern parts during specific times of the year.  Set on the northernmost part of Denmark, Grenen in Skagen is one of the best spots for viewing the magical display! Thy National Park is another excellent place for the rare aurora sightings. Other locations you can try are the Faroe Islands, an autonomous territory in the Kingdom of Denmark set between Iceland and Norway, as well as Kjul Strand on the outskirts of Hirtshals and the island of Samso.

Nyhaven, the 17th-century waterfront, greets travellers as soon as they arrive in Copenhagen  – where colourful buildings line the canal like a postcard straight out of a fairytale. The majestic Rosenborg Castle is another of those fairytale-perfect places, featuring turrets, moats and a story of treasure, and the world-famous Tivoli Gardens is the entertainment hub for visitors of all ages! Be sure to check out Copenhagen's iconic Little Mermaid statue, who quietly watches over the harbour, as you come near the dock!
