Koper is the only major cruise port for cruises to Slovenia, set on the country’s Adriatic coast. It serves as the gateway to Slovenia’s many wonders, such as the Lake Bled, Postjona Cave, and the quaint towns of Piran and Ljubljana.

The best time to visit Slovenia is during the summer, between June and August, for warm temperatures and clear skies perfect for outdoor activities and water sports. However, if you want to enjoy winter adventures like skiing and the Christmas markets, December to February are the ideal months. 

There are some shore excursions that offer a chance for scenic boat tours along the legendary Lijubljanica River. Whilst it’s different and relatively shorter from the traditional luxury river cruises, these short jaunts truly capture the charm and beauty of Slovenia’s historic capital.

Slovenian is the official language in Slovenia, but English is also widely spoken here especially in major tourist areas like the capital, Ljubljana. It’s still helpful to learn a few Slovenian words and phrases to be able to freely interact and communicate with the locals.
