Bora Bora Cruises FAQs

When is the best time to cruise to Bora Bora?

Thanks to the island’s consistent warm weather and endless beauty, Bora Bora is a year-round cruise destination! The dry season is between May and October, offering near-perfect weather conditions and clear, sunny skies, ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. The wet season is from April to November, when there are fewer crowds and warmer weather.

Which cruise lines go to Bora Bora?

As a popular cruise destination, many cruise lines offer itineraries to French Polynesia, often paired with port destinations in Hawaii and other Oceania countries like Fiji and Papua New Guinea. Among these cruise lines are Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Regent Seven Seas, Celebrity Cruises, and Royal Caribbean International.

How to get around Bora Bora?

Bora Bora is a small island that’s easy and scenic to navigate. Guests can ride the ferry or a private speed boat to the main town and their respective private resorts from the airport. A limited number of taxi services operate around the island but they can be quite expensive. Customers can also rent private cars or motorbikes to explore the island at their own freedom and accord. Exploring the island on foot or cycling around the island on two wheels is recommended to take in the picture-perfect scenery and fresh air at a leisurely pace!

What currency to bring in Bora Bora?

The French Pacific Franc is the official and best currency to use in French Polynesia, but US Dollars, European euro notes and Australian Dollars are sometimes accepted in tourist areas. Major hotels, resorts, and establishments also accept credit cards. On the flip side, there are traditional small businesses that only accept cash, so it’s still helpful to have cash with you at all times.

Is there a tipping culture?

Tipping is not mandatory but is gradually becoming more common nowadays, given Bora Bora’s stature as a world-renowned tourist destination. If you find the service excellent and you’re feeling a little generous, offering a small gratuity to hotel staff, cab drivers and tour guides will be greatly appreciated. A service charge is also often included in your bill.
